Ahhhh... March 1st, ya'll! It marks the beginning of Spring in Texas! I am yearning for hotter temps, the sun warm on my skin and Spring-wear. Spring is just my most favorite time of year. My husband and I started dating in March {16 years ago}, the chill and brown-ness of a Texas winter gives way to green sprouts and flower blooms ... March holds a very special place in my heart... AND of course... Spring Break happens in this third month of the year!
We are taking a fun little Texas Getaway this Spring Break. 3 nights in Galveston and 4 nights in San Antonio (actually staying in a cabin in Hill Country, just outside of San Antonio). After Pandemic and Snow-Apocalypse this is a welcome diversion.
Perhaps I'm a nut... but I LOVE packing and readying my outfits for a trip. I love mixing and matching pieces. But... I tend to pack WAY too much, so I wanted to try and narrow down the pieces to fit comfortably in one bag. This is 27 pieces (which includes shoes, hats and bags)... so really I feel like a total rockstar for keeping the list this tight. And this is legit what I will wear on our trip!
The thing about Spring is that it could be chilly OR warm. It could be sunny OR rainy. And you could get multiple seasons in one day (oh how I love the great state of Texas)... so options are a must. What I love about this navy, blue, white and blush color palette I've created here... is that it is all interchangeable. Is it warm? Ok go with the jean shorts. Yikes... it got chilly, throw on the boyfriend sweater. White t-shirt OR long-sleeved white t-shirt. The integrity of the looks will hold up no matter what!
Ok... ok... I'm geeking out here... because blue and blush are a dreamy combo AND I love how it all came together... so girl... GIRL... grab a hot tea and settle in for some outfit inspo and 27 pieces to create 19 looks. Could you create more? OF COURSE. Could you cull out some of the pieces? Sure! But knowing that the weather is unpredictable... this will give you all the options for a South Texas Spring Break VACAYYYY!
Ok... so the packing list

Travel Comfy Outfits
So... we are road-tripping. Which means hitting the open road with my coffee, a great book and miles and miles of sitting. I need something comfy. No pesky buttons or zippers cramping my style... these two looks will get you to your destination and then hustled on back home.
These navy brilliant tights are a dream to wear. I love taking the classic black legging to a Spring zone with navy! Still neutral and versatile with a bit more color. This style is low compression, silky smooth and uber stretchy. I don't exercise in these as they are lower compression... but for casual wear they are the best! Great comfy kicks, my classic white tee (literally the BEST tee out there) and the boyfriend sweater on for the chilly air conditioning OR tied at the waist... outfit complete.
Have you tried my boyfriend sweater line? Sooooo soft, extra roomy and sooo comfy casual to wear. You need one... or four. And... can we talk about this Herschel backpack for a hot sec? I have a gray one that I was way into. Great quality, cute mini size and really functional when traveling. So... when I spotted this blush color... I added to cart quicker than you can say "Herschel!"
So these camo unwind joggers are the only piece that don't really match the blue and blush color palette... BUT... they coordinate like a DREAM with either color. And this blush/corally crop long-sleeved top from Old Navy looks FAB with these pants.
They are an investment piece that can be worn SO many ways. BEST quality joggers out there. Flat front without the "sweat-pant" scrunched waist, thick enough to hide imperfections but light enough to wear in Spring {or Winter!} They keep selling out... so definitely get on my waiting list.
Casual Sight-Seeing Outfits
I like to keep it casual when we travel... well honestly I keep it casual ALL the time, but especially when we are out and about all day exploring a new {or oft traveled} city – whether that is a stroll down the Riverwalk in San Antonio, a day at Moody Gardens in Galveston or sneaking off to a Winery for a little afternoon titchy in Fredericksburg...
Ok don't freak out. Remain calm. This is a jumpsuit. And it's AMAZING. I have a serious obsession with onesies – jammies, bodysuits, rompers, jumpsuits... they make me happy... and perhaps it is because I have a flat chest and a super short torso... but they REALLY feel flattering to me! So when I spotted this blue tie-dye stunner from Pink Lily... I snagged it instantly. Like no hesitation. I love that it is sporty and trendy... but I really love it because it is crazy comfy. Like wear all day... can't-stop-my-vacay-vibe kinda comfy.
Pair it with some casual white sneaks, like this Adidas Cloudfoam pair. If you have been watching YouTube vids on replay about Spring fashion {what only me?}... then you KNOW all white sneaks are the THING this spring/summer. {P.S. I have a white sneak try-on coming for ya!}
Add a jeany and a twist headband and you are SET. Where is the jeanjacket from? It's vintage Kohls. My sweet Momma bought it for me {with Kohl's cash I'm sure}. And I haven't found another that I like as much. It's Mudd brand. I will link similar styles far below. I have ordered 3 other jackets from various places and returned them all because I just didn't like them. sad face. Still on the hunt for a darker or mid wash. Stay tuned on that.
I mean HOW effortless is this look? Lightweight sweater with hoodie, jean shorts and sneaks. Perfection. So... these jean shorts. Get ready to freak out... because I did when I put them on. I have a pair I love but they keep getting shorter and shorter as I wash because they fray a bit more each time... so I HAD to find another pair. I scoured the internets and came up with this pair from Abercrombie. Not my usual scene... but these are CURVY girl style! They are called "Curve Love High Rise Mom Shorts" and they are just the MOST! They nip in just enough at the waist to allow for all the thighs and hips and bum bum. I cannot wear straight down styles becuase I have a little too much booty from all the lifting and squatting and rocking-horse-ing (which is really the best glute exercise IMO... but I digress). So stumbling on this teen style that works 100% for my curves was a stroke of sheer FATE!
And did I talk about these New Balance sneaks? Well I should. They are SOOO comfy and retro cute. We tend to see and do it all when we travel, so I love a great comfy workout shoe for sight-seeing and finding active adventures.
Remix. Shuffle. Rewind. Pieces from before brought together in a new way... and with a hat. So... South Texas makes my hair frizz... especially when rain is imminent. So hats are my BFF. I love a great navy trucker hat. Poof. here ya go! Similar styles linked below. I even have one in the boutique with a hole for your ponytail!
This is where it gets EXCITING. I think this was one of my FAVE looks. Those curvy dreamy shorts with the cutie sneaks AND the navy finesse tank and white bomber jacket. Let's talk about this tank first. It is VERSATILE with a capital "V." I'll show the longer and tied looks in another image... but this top is soooo good. Long to cover your hips and bum... with flattering slits on the side. I opted to tuck it in with this look because tucked out it fully covered my shorts. This is a MUST-HAVE tank for Spring! For real. I was super skeptical about it at first. And didn't even order a sample at first. Gasp! But I decided give it a go... and I am in obsession mode.
And speaking of obsession another piece I never ordered a sample of was this white bomber jacket... and I am like WHAT? It's amazzzzzing! IT has a subtle ghosted leopard print. It can be cinched to wear at hips or long and loose. Hooded. Lightweight. Fab tied at waist.
Camo Joggers, long-sleeved white heavenly top, sneaks. Easy, peasy, breezy and good. If it is warmer, go with the classic white tee. If it is really cold, throw on your jeany. Poof. Easy and fun.
I adore a great t-shirt dress. This waffled long version from Amazon is pretty great. I like the cuff and wide sleeve and the length. It can be a nice long silhouette OR you can cinch up the length with something tied at the waist. Dress it up or down based on your shoes and accessories. The best part of this dress? Pockets. Yes. I love a good pocket in shorts, tights AND dresses.
Tie-dye trend is here to stay... and I'm not mad about it. This tie-dye twist tank is super soft and fun. Equally amazing for workouts and casual wear. I loved it with jeans and sneaks for an all-about-town sporty look. The length is nice and long so it can be front tucked, worn long and loose or tied.
I've probably talked until I'm blue in the face about these cropped jeans... and I will keep singing their praises. They are Levi's and have legit molded to my curves. I cannot stop wearing them... and the length and casual-ness is ideal for Spring! So cute with sneaks, sandals and wedges.
Active Adventure Outfits
We will be doing LOTS of fun things on this trip, including hiking in the Hill Country and doing a Ropes Course! That calls for some serious activewear. Check out these looks for kicking up your vacay intensity!
I love the way longer bike shorts can play in the athleisure space... either as a high performance workout staple OR as a cute base to this type of look.
Stay tuned for a coming post about how to wear bike shorts in 5 fun ways.
Pair with the blush top, a fanny and sneaks you are ready to lunge and jump... or have lunch on a patio. Ya know... whichever comes first!
Can we talk about this fanny, though? A dig a good fanny. It's just SO dang practical and I really am thankful that the trendy youngsters of the fashion world have brought this 80s/90s trend back. I love the quality and lower price point of the Herschel brand... so a Herschel fanny pack was a must. This style comes in like a zillion colors... so choose your fave!
Navy brilliant tights + tie-dye tank makes being outdoors and active even more fun!
White classic tee + seamless bike shorts (legit my favorite) + the white bomber jacket will definitely make the day fun!
Dressy Casual Outfits
While I prefer to stay in and cook vs. dining out... it is fun to try new restaurants while on vacay... bonus points for a fab patio scene. I rounded up a few cutie looks for dressing up (yet keeping it casual as I tend to prefer)...
Do you love kimonos? I seem to buy a new one each year and find myself disappointed with how they end up making me look frump-ville. But... I struck gold here ya'll!!! This blue floral kimono from Amazon is a slightly shorter style with a sleeker silhouette. YAY! I paired with this white bodysuit with a wicked-cool neckline. It makes your shoulders look amaze btw! Add jeans, these cutie Tori Burch inspired sandals and statement earrings for a fully styled look.
Ok, our me a glass of wine and take me to a patio, stat!
Oh hey t-shirt dress, you are back! If you are short like me... sometimes you gotta improvise and make your dress a wee bit shorter... so feel free to give your dress side knot!!! Fun, right? Sandals, jeany if it is chilly and girl... a great grilled fish dinner awaits.
I love the simplicity of this look. Literally so simple, yet extra cute. Jeans, white heavenly top (can we worn tucked or tied), hat and wedges. Perfection. These cutie nude wedges from Target have stolen my heart. Comfy and cute.
Oh tie-dye jumpsuit. You must join me for dinner. And yes, I will add wedges.
Oh yes. Remember that versatile finesse tank from the casual sight-seeing outfit set? Well look at how all these other wearable options... but this time with jeans and wedges. long and loose. LOVING that side slit or tie at the side. This straw hat is so fun. I love a good wider brimmed hat that doesn't break the bank and is a great Spring/Summer weight. This is a gem.
Swoon. I love the edgy Camo with the sleek and sexy bodysuit/wedge combo. It makes me happy, ya'll.
Pool/Beach Outfit
We will definitely have a bit of beach and pool time during our trip...hopefully we even get some decent sunshine! So... swim-ready style here we go!
I am not quite swimsuit ready in March {are we really EVER ready?}... so I opted for this cutie one-piece bathing suit. It is actually a best-seller on Amazon and I can see why. It is pretty universally flattering. Slimming with good bum coverage. Not sure if you would get odd tan lines from the see-through mesh parts... but it is a risk I'm willing to take. I threw on the blue floral kimono as it doubles as a bathing suit cover-up... which also covers your whole bum. The sandals and hat obviously had to come along for the surf, too!
Ahhhh... which was your favorite look? I literally can't choose. Each outfit makes me happy and joyful in a different way.
I mean you gotta snag ALL the things. It is not just a great vacay wardrobe... this is kinda a Spring Capsule wardrobe, too!
